Air and dirt separator Termojet DN50 (2'') 110°C/10bar

TJ-CAD-DN50M — combined air and dirt separator for large DN50 heating systems. A single body simultaneously removes micro-bubbles of gas and solid contaminants from the heat-transfer fluid at flow rates up to 7,5 m³/h. Designed for boiler rooms, industrial circuits and commercial facilities where DN50 is the standard diameter of the main pipeline.

How It Works

The heat-transfer fluid enters the body through the DN50 connection and flows into an enlarged cylindrical chamber where the flow velocity drops. A honeycomb coalescent insert made of copper wires in the upper part of the chamber captures micro-bubbles: they adhere to the wire surface, merge into larger bubbles and rise to the automatic air vent on the cap. Solid particles — sand, sludge, scale, corrosion products — settle by gravity into the lower collector chamber. Sludge is drained through the blow-down valve without stopping the system.

Applications

• Boiler rooms and central heating. DN50 is the standard diameter for boilers with an output of 80 kW and above. The TJ-CAD-DN50M is installed at the boiler outlet or in the main distribution unit.
• Industrial and commercial facilities. Shopping centres, hotels, production premises — any systems with high heat-transfer fluid flow rates.
• High-capacity heat pump systems. Clean heat-transfer fluid is critical for the plate heat exchanger of the heat pump. If magnetite is present, also consider the DN50 dirt separator with a removable magnetic ring.
• After repair or commissioning. Residual installation contaminants and initial air when filling the system are removed automatically.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the TJ-CAD-DN50M be installed vertically and horizontally?
The device is designed for vertical installation (air-vent connection at the top). Horizontal installation is not recommended: the automatic air vent and sludge collection rely on gravity.

How often should sludge be drained from the separator?
First inspection and drain — 3–6 months after start-up (new systems produce the most contaminants in the first season). Subsequently — once a year during scheduled maintenance. The procedure takes less than a minute without stopping the system.
