Termojet DN40 magnetic dirt separator — a solution for medium-capacity and commercial heating systems. Flow capacity 6.8 m³/h covers boiler rooms up to 60–80 kW. Brass body withstands 110°C and 10 bar. Built-in neodymium magnetic rod captures magnetite Fe₃O₄ — the ferromagnetic iron sludge from corrosion that conventional separators miss. Installed on the return pipeline before the boiler, pump group, or heat exchanger.

The heat carrier enters the wide separator chamber — flow velocity drops sharply. Heavy non-magnetic particles: sand, scale, iron oxides — settle to the bottom under gravity. Simultaneously, the neodymium rod at the centre of the chamber captures ferromagnetic magnetite particles — those too small or light for gravitational settling. The result is dual separation: what settles and what is held by the magnetic field. Collected sludge is drained via the drain valve without stopping the system. Cleaning the magnetic rod: remove it, wipe off the black deposit, reinsert.
Heat pump systems require special protection. Magnetite — black iron sludge from corrosion — accumulates in the narrow channels of the plate heat exchanger and gradually reduces its efficiency. A conventional dirt separator does not retain magnetite, because it is non-magnetic by nature for a gravitational separator. Only a neodymium rod reliably extracts these particles from the heat carrier. Learn more about heat pump systems at tjheatpump.com.ua.
If simultaneous air and dirt removal is needed, consider the Air and Dirt Separator DN40. For installation in tight boiler rooms or where straight pipe run is limited, the Angled Dirt Separator DN40 is a good fit. Full range — in the Termojet separator catalogue.
Is a magnetic separator needed if the boiler is new?
Yes, especially at the initial stage. A new system produces the most corrosion sludge in the first 3–6 months — when steel and cast-iron components are still “bedding in”. This is when magnetite is actively forming and spreading through the circuit. A magnetic separator installed at start-up prevents primary contamination of the boiler heat exchanger and all fittings.
What is the difference between DN40 and DN32 when choosing a dirt separator?
The DN selection matches the pipe diameter on which the separator is installed. DN40 (1 1/2") is designed for systems with a flow capacity up to 6.8 m³/h — typically boiler rooms of 40–80 kW with the corresponding pipework. If your pipe is DN32, choose the Dirt Separator DN32.
