The Termojet DN40 angled magnetic dirt separator is designed for boiler rooms and technical spaces where installation space does not allow a straight separator to be fitted. The 90° angled connection eliminates the need for a straight pipe section. Flow capacity — 6.8 m³/h, the brass body withstands 110°C and 10 bar. The built-in neodymium magnetic rod captures magnetite Fe₃O₄ — the ferromagnetic ferrous sludge from the corrosion of steel and cast-iron components that a gravity separator cannot retain.

The heat-transfer fluid enters the expanded chamber through the angled port — the flow velocity drops sharply. Non-magnetic particles: sand, rust, scale, oxides — settle to the bottom by gravity. In parallel, the neodymium rod in the chamber captures magnetite Fe₃O₄ — fine ferromagnetic particles circulating in suspension. This dual separation (gravitational and magnetic) occurs continuously, without any moving parts other than the drain valve. Maintenance: open the valve — drain the sludge; remove the rod — wipe off the black deposit — reinsert. Without shutting down the heating system.
A heat pump is the most technologically sensitive element of a modern heating system. Magnetite formed during the corrosion of steel and cast-iron circuit components accumulates in the narrow channels of the heat pump plate heat exchanger and gradually reduces its output. A conventional dirt separator does not retain magnetite — a neodymium magnetic rod is required. The angled DN40 is especially appropriate when the space around the heat pump is limited. If installation space permits — consider the DN40 Dirt Separator with straight connection. For simultaneous removal of air and dirt, the DN40 Air and Dirt Separator is suitable. Full range — in the Termojet separator catalogue.
What is the difference between the angled and straight DN40 separator?
The operating principle, chamber, neodymium rod and specifications (110°C, 10 bar, 6.8 m³/h) are identical. The difference is in the connection geometry: the straight version is installed in-line in a straight pipeline, the angled one — at a bend or in a corner where there is no room for a straight body.
Does the angled connection affect separation efficiency or pressure drop?
No. Hydraulic resistance and separation efficiency are determined by the chamber volume and the magnetic rod design, not by the orientation of the inlet port. The angled version has the same specifications as the straight DN40 separator.
