Air separator Termojet DN40 (1½") 110°C/10bar TJ-CA-DN40

The TJ-CA-DN40 air separator removes microbubbles and dissolved gas from the heat-transfer fluid in large systems with DN40 (1½″) pipework and flow rates up to 5.0 m³/h. Microbubbles — invisible gas particles circulating in the system — reduce heat-exchange efficiency, cause noise, and accelerate corrosion. Maximum temperature 110°C, pressure 10 bar.

How It Works

The heat-transfer fluid enters the expanded separator chamber, where velocity drops sharply. A coalescing insert with a honeycomb structure of welded copper wires increases the surface area: microbubbles adhere to the wires, draw together, merge into larger bubbles, and rise to the automatic air vent. The vent discharges them continuously and automatically — with zero maintenance.

Applications

• Large boiler rooms and commercial facilities. DN40, flow rate 5.0 m³/h — for office buildings, industrial premises, and heating systems with an approximate output from 40 kW.
• After the boiler (hottest point). On the supply pipeline immediately after the boiler — where gas solubility is lowest and microbubbles are released most actively.
• New large systems. At first start-up the heat-transfer fluid contains the maximum amount of dissolved air — the separator deaerates the system within a few weeks.
• Multi-boiler systems. When cascading boilers or switching between circuits, air is actively released from the fluid — the DN40 separator handles the high flow.
• Noise and uneven heating. Large DN40 systems are prone to microbubble accumulation in horizontal sections — the separator eliminates the root cause.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a DN40 air separator and a DN40 automatic air vent?
An automatic air vent (float valve) removes only free air that has already collected at the highest point. The TJ-CA-DN40 separator with its coalescing insert captures microbubbles smaller than 1 mm that circulate in the system and do not rise on their own. For large DN40 systems where microbubble accumulation significantly reduces heating efficiency, the separator is the only solution.
