The heat carrier enters from the main line through G 1" and is distributed across the two circuits. Each outlet is fitted with a ball valve — a quarter turn opens or fully closes the circuit. This allows one loop to be isolated for repair, flushing, or seasonal shutdown without stopping the rest of the system. The M30×1.5 sockets on the return manifold accept standard thermal actuators for automatic control.
Difference from the flow meter version: valves are either open or closed — a "half-open" position is technically possible but does not provide precise flow control. Therefore, this manifold is suitable for systems where both loops have approximately the same length and hydraulic resistance.
Two underfloor heating circuits from a heat pump are a common scheme for an apartment or small cottage. In low-temperature heat pump mode (35–45°C supply), ball valves are adequate for managing the system if the loops are balanced by design. When are valves sufficient, and when are flow meters needed?
Valves are sufficient if the two circuits have the same or similar length — the difference in hydraulic resistance is minimal. If the loops differ significantly in length, the shorter one will "steal" the flow and the longer one will remain underheated. In that case, switch to the 2-outlet manifold with flow meters.
Can thermal actuators be installed on a manifold with ball valves?
Yes. The M30×1.5 sockets on the return manifold are designed specifically for thermal actuators. Ball valves and thermal actuators operate independently: the valve provides manual shut-off, the actuator provides automatic control via a thermostat signal.
