Operating Principle and Hydraulic Balancing

With fifteen circuits, the difference in loop lengths between rooms can reach 3–5 times. Without balancing, the shortest loops will "steal" flow, while the longest ones will remain underheated. The flow meter (rotameter) at each outlet shows the actual flow rate in l/min: the installer or owner can directly see which circuit is receiving too much and which too little. The flow meter's regulating valve throttles flow in short loops until all 15 circuits are balanced. The result is uniform floor temperature in every room with no overheating or cold zones. Frequently Asked Questions

Why do I need flow meters if there are thermal actuators on each outlet?
Thermal actuators control the switching on and off of the circuit based on room temperature — but they do not balance the hydraulics between circuits. With 15 open circuits, the flow difference between a short and a long loop can be 3–4 times. A flow meter allows you to set the balance once when commissioning the system — after that, the thermal actuators only switch the already-balanced circuits on and off.

Can I split 15 circuits into two smaller manifolds instead of one large one?
